Photos by A Carter Right Royal is the product of a superior mix of Riding Pony, Welsh, Arabian and Thoroughbred bloodlines. His sire, Sandbourne Royal Ensign, a true legend, is the sire of a number of Australian imports who themselves are royal show champions and have produced countless royal show, horse of the year and grand national winners. These include Janinos Little Joker, Syon Royal Portrait, Westacre Coppelia, Fleetcroft Royal Whisper and Finkley Princess Royal (dec). Ensign himself is sired the the great Keston Royal Occasion (imp). Radway Right Royals' dam, Tarantella III, a most successful mare both in the showring and in the broodmare paddock, is sired by the hugely successful small Thoroughbred, McGredy. McGredy sired many supreme champions in hand and under saddle as well as performance class winners. He was also the winner of the Ponies of Britain Progeny Award for ten years running.
Sire of Right Royal's dam, the 14.3hh Thoroughbred, McGredy and Birchwood Studs' Thorwood Sweet Dreams Radway Right Royal (imp) is the sire and grandsire of... (just to mention a few) Radway Right Royal (imp) the sire of the successful 2007 new comer, Thorwood Royal Scandal, owned by Angela and Bev Carter. Her achievements include 2007 Top 10 VASL first season large pony of the year and had numerous other exceptional in hand and saddle wins to date. Another success story sired by Right Royal is the quality mare, Rathowen Coronet owned by Joanne Parry. Coronet was Runner Up Intermediate Large Pony of the Year at the 2001 NSW EFA Horse of the Year show and is the dam of the very successful Teeona Touch of Class.
