Yurrugar
is a small Australian based kennel that is totally dedicated and
committed to the superb English Toy Terrier (Black and Tan). Yurrugar
is a hobby kennel with a professional outlook. We are proud to exhibit
and breed quality, multi award winning, true to type
dogs that have excellent conformation,
outgoing temperaments with the true terrier attitude, the correct,
unique topline and "extended trot" movement. We particularly
pride ourselves on
breeding excellent hind quarters as well as beautiful, wedgey heads
with good under-jaws. Our English Toy Terriers enjoy much success when
exhibited at all breed championship shows under both local and
international judges.

Yurrugar
is based on a beautifully set up, 200 acre property in country
Victoria, Australia and is run by Paige Saunders with the close
assistance and support from parents Mark and Jennie and partner, Robert
MacGregor. The Yurrugar prefix has been established since 1975 and was
originally associated with Holstein Friesian cattle, Australian Stock
Horses and Australian Cattle Dogs. When the dairy herd was dispersed in
the early 2000's, the English Toy Terrier breed entered out lives. Our
first English Toy Terrier came from Charmaine Cameron in Queensland. We
no longer have "Polly", however ZZ Top still resides at Yurrugar and is
a big part of our program.
Looking out over the Yurrugar property
We
are proud to own and breed some of Australia's finest English Toy
Terriers and feel that we have acquired the very best and in turn, we
are producing some of the very best. In 2008, we decided to take a
change in direction and move towards basing our kennel on American
lines mixed in with the Australian lines that we already had.
Subsequently, Yurrugar has magnificent imports from the USA and was the
first Australian
English Toy Terrier kennel to embrace and utilize American type and
bloodlines. We will forever be grateful to Charlie and the late Wander
Walker for allowing their Saint Lazar dogs to come to Yurrugar.
We
are extremely proud of the dogs that we have
bred, owned and currently own. We are a stand alone kennel and all
Yurrugar dogs are solely owned by the Saunders
Family and are currently owner/breeder handled at shows, with the
exception of Rosemarie Forbes' Aust Ch Yurrugar Black Diamond. Some
wonderful worldwide
friendships have been developed because of our dogs and hope to make
many more. We take great pride in the excellent reputation we have
established both nationally and internationally and thank those
breeders who have helped us along the way as well as those who have
thought highly enough of our dogs to want to acquire a Yurrugar one
from us. We occasionally have puppies available, but please be prepared
to wait. Enquiries are always welcome.

We
compete on the Victorian show scene and mainly at city shows, which
most would agree, is extremely competitive. We attribute our show ring
success to date to our dedication, hard work and enjoyment of working
together to create a team of dogs that look their best whenever they
step into the show ring. Although, to get to the show ring, you must
first start with something special and we are dedicated to continuing
to breed ourselves these wonderful English Toy Terriers that are good
enough to compete and win at the very highest level. We are truly proud
of Team Yurrugar and all that it encompasses. We would like to thank
our fellow competitors, and those judges, who have been nothing but
supportive of us and our team of dogs and who embrace our dreams. The
encouragment has been overwhelming.

Clubs and memberships:
All of our dogs are registered with the ANKC. We are members of Dogs
Victoria as well as the UK English Toy Terrier (Black & Tan) Club
and Master Dog Breeders and Associates. We also take an interest in
both the Manchester Terrier and Miniature Pinscher breeds and we are
subsequently members of The British Manchester Terrier Club, The
Miniature Pinscher Club of Victoria and The United Pinscher Club of
Victoria. We are pleased to say that we actively support all these
clubs through various forms of sponsorship and enjoy our involvement in
the clubs.
